If you are looking for some fun and fabulous 60th birthday party ideas, look no further. On July 9th we celebrated my mom’s 60th Birthday! Just because you are celebrating someone’s 60th birthday, doesn’t mean you have to compromise in style and sparkle!
My mom is fabulous and so I knew we wanted to celebrate her in an elegant yet fun and sassy way. So, we did! Here’s how:
60th birthday party ideas: The Where
Find out your special birthday person’s favorite restaurant or style of food and book it. My mom loves Seasons 52. The location by us had several party rooms. So we had our party there, while the fantastic chef’s prepared a delicious meal.
I loved the wall full of deep cherry red cabinets and wine racks full of all kinds of wine. It just added to the beauty of the space.
60th birthday party ideas: The Details
To make a party fabulous and full of love you’ve got to pay attention to the details. After all, love is in the details!
Above you’ll see a picture of a beautiful jar. It is gold with clear spots where you can see inside just barely. I found these at Michaels, tied a black and white ribbon I had in my own collection (also from Michaels) and threw the birthday girls favorite flower in there, in the color of my color scheme. Viola! You’ve got a super easy 60th birthday party idea with glitter and gold. Or maybe just the gold… that glitters. 😉
Add some chic and festive elements in the color scheme of your party and you can help a place feel more like a party than just a dinner. So cute!
These fun signs were so inspirational and communicated the fabulousness of my mom in this time of her life. It was the best touch the set the tone for this celebration.
While I was thinking of more 60th birthday party ideas I came across these cake pops on Etsy.
I loved them! They were gorgeous and super tasty. You can get these Rustic Poppy Flower Cake Pops at The New York Cake Poppery on Etsy.
Another great 60th birthday party idea is to set up a photo booth. This one was pretty easy to set up. The banner I found as a free download online. I printed it at home on thick card stock paper and cut them out. I dug into my stash of ribbons from Michaels and threaded it through the slots I carved in the paper.
The sign with my moms name I made at home with my Cricut machine. I am a total novice when it comes to this machine. So it took me forever to make it so that it came our right. Ugh! There was probably an easier way to do it and I probably could’ve just asked my local Cricut guru, Brendaliz. But It was a late night session and couldn’t bring myself to waker her in the wee hours of the morning. 🙂
The gold shimmer sequin fabric photography backdrop is my absolute favorite and I got it from dropstudios on Etsy.
A perfect 60th birthday party idea is this Chalkboard 60th Birthday Poster personalized for my mom’s birth year. It was so cool to take a step back in time and present it in such an elegant way. You can find this poster and posters like it at the Esty shop called invitefull.
Now if I had to be really honest with you, this was sort of the first thing I purchased for the party and was the main inspiration for this party. My mom really enjoys Moscatos and so I found this pink one in mini bottle size and I thought, “What a perfect party favor!” I purchased these in bulk (because that’s the only way they sell them) at a local warehouse here on Long Island. I designed the cute favor tags you see with my Cricut and attached a black and white straw to the bottle with a slim black ribbon, you guessed it, from my ribbon collection.
Love them!
Now can we talk about this cake. What can I say about this cake but… Wow & Yum! Not only was this cake beautiful but it was sooooooo delicious! The artistry was flawless and the flavor heavenly. I ordered this cake from a local baker in Queens, NYC. Sabine from A Love for Cakes, baked and decorated this cake and we couldn’t get enough of it! The bottom cake was a chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling and the top tier was Almond cake with Dulce de Leche Mousse. Oh. Em. Gee! I can’t even… Get your cakes from her. I have been dreaming of this cake since the party! The cake topper I had purchased at an online small shop that is no longer in business. But it is an acrylic cake topper that you can find almost anywhere now.
The 60 year old birthday girl loved her party and so did I. It came out great. Just because you are celebrating someone’s 60th birthday, doesn’t mean you have to compromise in style and sparkle!
I hope these 60th Birthday Party Ideas inspire you to throw your own fabulous party soon. Enjoy!
