Hi there! I’m Rosie. I was born and raised in New York (Brooklyn & Long Island). I currently live in Queens (one of the 5 boroughs of New York City) with my husband (Rich) and our 2 children.
Here, on my blog, I share thoughts and musings on living as a follower of Christ. I also share inspiration and encouragement to women just trying to figure out how to make a beautiful and meaningful life. My hope is that you join me as I share what I’m learning along the way.
My Life’s Journey
My full name is Rosangela Villodas, but my friends call me Rosie. I was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of two “Miscellaneous Creatives” expressing their creativity in traditional and non-traditional ways. They served faithfully in churches around New York City as pastors, grassroots missionaries and local leaders. I unexpectedly found myself serving in similar capacities.
As a young adult, I became a very determined business major and graduated with a marketing gig straight out of college. But it didn’t quite fit. I felt lost, like I wasn’t living a meaningful life that was true to who I was.
Feeling called to share with others God’s amazing story of restoration, redemption and love, I changed careers and became a Children’s Pastor and then Family Ministry Pastor, ministering in places like The Brooklyn Tabernacle, New Life Fellowship in Queens, and other parts of New York City.
During this time, I became a momma! Or mami, as we say in Nuyorican culture (a person who is of Puerto Rican heritage living in NYC). I had my daughter (now 9 years old) and then 5 years later had my son (now 4 years old).
Fast forward to today. I no longer work as Family Ministry Pastor or Children’s Ministry Pastor at a local church. Today, I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a writer, and a dreamer. And what I’ve been learning on my life’s journey is that living life with intentionality helps you create the beautiful meaningful life you desire.
For me, intentional living is growing in self-awareness, making memories with family and allowing the ways of Christ to instruct how I should live today. By no means have I arrived and I am not an expert in these things, but I’ve been on this intentional life journey for a bit and I’ve learned things along the way that I’d love to share with you.
My Life’s Journey: Making Memories with My Family
Making memories with my family is so important to me. Whether it be major family vacations, spontaneous road trips or special moments at home, it’s my hope to make even the simplest of moments last a lifetime.
By simply being aware of how every day moments matter we can turn something mundane into something magical.
I don’t always get this right, but I’m learning every day. I’d love to share what I’m learning with you. Let me know what you’d like to hear most about.
Here are some ways I’ve made memories with my family:
My Life’s Journey: For Me to Live is Christ
I believe that the life of Christ, lived thousands of years ago, is key to me living a beautiful meaningful life today. His life was, for me, a great example of a life lived intentionally. How he loved others, welcomed others, cared for others and rescued others intentionally was and is the ultimate example of how I want to live. He did what the Father was doing and His life, death and resurrection changed me forever.
“Life is not a dress rehearsal.” -Rose Tremain (English Novelist)
My Life’s Journey hasn’t been easy. There have been many twists, turns and surprises but along the way I’ve learned that “life is not a dress rehearsal”. This is the only one that I get, and if I don’t live it with intentionality it can pass me by feeling like life is happening to me, not like I’m living life.
I get to choose how I want to live life. I get to choose what matters to me. And living life with intentionality helps me to create the beautiful, meaningful life I want. Here’s to you living your life with intentionality, beauty and meaning!
