Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

This year I got to plan my son’s 1st Birthday party. It was a Mickey Mouse party theme! And I’m dying to share with you my Mickey Mouse party ideas.

I love parties! I love throwing them and personalizing them. I love getting lost in the details. It’s my way of showing and spreading love. Don’t believe me? Check out my Tangled (Rapunzel) inspired party, or this sweet Carnival 1st birthday party I styled.

So here is a Mickey Mouse party I did a while back. And by “a while back” I mean 3 years ago…. (sorry, I’ve been busy).

This party is actually my son’s 1st birthday party. It was his Mickey Mouse party or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party. I had a lot of fun doing it. This time around I decided to scale my party back a bit and do a simple and budget friendly party. Or as simple as I could do it. Cuz I gets cray with the deets!

Well, enjoy the details (aka. deets) and let me know what you think!

How to Start Planning Your Mickey Mouse Party

Start with a focal table or focal wall

In this case, my party was outdoors so I decided to focus on a table. When creating a focal table or focal wall for your Mickey Mouse party, it’s important to include elements that will not only draw a person’s eye to the table but up above the table. Not having any decor higher than table level will make the space feel unfinished.

First, I covered a table with red table cloth and cut out two white circles so that it would look like Mickey’s pants! You can also use two white paper plates for this.

Second, I knew I had to add in the color black to help the table look a bit more like Mickey was there. So I took a second table cloth, in black, and didn’t open it all the way. I simply unfolded it so that it became the table runner for the table.

Third, I knew I needed something to draw peoples eyes up. I could have either done balloons on each table or as an arch. But it was a small party and a balloon arch would be a bit much for the amount of guests I was expecting. So I decided to splurge on a beautiful banner from SHOP NAME.

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

You could go as fancy or as simple as you like with the banner. But having a banner helps tons!

Finally, for my Mickey Mouse party, I placed items on the table that will help continue the Mickey theme.

Mickey Party Cups

I bought the typical red cups you can find at any grocery store and cut out white circles and attached them to my cups. If you don’t have time to do this to every cup, just do it for a few as display. Add some yellow striped or polka dotted straws to complete the Mickey look!

Mickey Minnie Ears

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

Here’s another Mickey Mouse party idea, we had Mickey and Minnie ears for everyone instead of traditional party hats! Adults loved it as much as the kiddos. 😉

Use Mickey Mouse Themed Signage

Signage can serve two great purposes: (1) It helps your guests find their way to the party and communicates what food your serving at the party. (2) It creates more ways you can incorporate your theme throughout the party.

This the sign I had on the gate as folks came IN to the back yard

Micke Mouse Party Welcome Signage

I purchased a lot of my signage on Etsy. I wanted to use the wording from the Disney Junior show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse throughout the party.

This sign was up on the other side of the gate as the guests left.

The artist just personalized it with my son’s name and I was able to print from home. Super simple.

Mickey Mouse Food Signage

We had a hot dog bar with all the fixin’s (fixin’s not pictured). We had beef and turkey dogs, chili, cheese, onions, frito lays corn chips, etc. If you could dream it we had it! Yum!

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

Inside the house we had a pictures of him during his first year. It was so fun to see how much he had grown!

The Cake

His cake was set up inside because it was going to rain. I decided not to spring for the expensive custom designed cake and instead purchased a fondant cake topper on Easy and placed a ‘1’ candle there too. Saved tons!

The poster in the back was also purchased on Etsy. I was able to message the seller with Nathan’s specific info and she personalized it for him, emailed me the image and I printed it out using a super cheap and super fast printing company I’ve used often. I then mounted in on a foam core board I purchased at Staples using spray glue.

Easy Peasy!

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

This cake was from a local bakery here in NY that we love. And I just added the fondant round topper, Nathan’s name and the dots to the sides of the cake. All those fondant pieces came with the topper.

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

The above pictures are Disney inspired Cake Pops from a shop on Etsy! (Goofy, Donald, Minnie) There were others too. unfortunately most of them came melted and damaged.

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

This was our simple but yummy smash cake for the birthday boy! (Candle from Target)

Mickey Mouse Party Ideas

Here’s the birthday boy in the shirt I got for him at… you got it… Etsy!!! Love me some Etsy!

I hope you enjoyed this simple but fun Mickey Mouse 1st Birthday party as much as I enjoyed throwing it. It is super easy to throw your own themed out party you and your kids will love. Just put a little thought and love into it.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions about it in the comments section below!

If you’ve already messaged me, I have your name and I will be in touch with you soon to let you know if there is space in the group. Unfortunately, not everyone will fit but perhaps you’d consider leading a group?⁣

One of the areas I’m looking to grow in is creating regular rhythms of reflection and paying closer attention to myself and how God is moving within me and around me.⁣
⁣
If you would like to join me on the journey to create regular rhythms of reflection I’d love for you to join me!⁣
⁣
I’m starting a group for people who’d like to come together (via Zoom) to encourage, challenge and inspire one another once a month.⁣
⁣
Here’s what we will do:⁣
- We will start in January! 🎉⁣
- We will utilize Emily P. Freeman’s guided journal as a tool to create a format/structure of reflection. 📝⁣
- We will meet every month to encourage one another to keep going via Zoom.👩🏽‍💻⁣
- We will share what we are learning, what’s been challenging and what’s been working as we continue to practice rhythms of reflection.🗣⁣
- We will be gentle, generous and patient with ourselves and one another. 💖⁣
- We will inspire one another to keep going even if we’ve slacked off on our reflection time. ✨⁣
- We will have fun doing it! (This is my enneagram 7 wing talking) 😂⁣
- We will be limiting the group to a small # of people, just to keep it intimate. 👥⁣
⁣
I’ve had @emilypfreeman ’s guided journal “The Next Right Thing Guided Journal” for over a year and haven’t had the chance to start it. Now is a great time.⁣
⁣
THE JOURNAL: It isn’t a daily reflection tool. It helps you create Monthly & Weekly rhythms of reflection. It is a tool to help us pay attention or our lives, our selves and how God is moving in them.⁣
⁣
If you are interested in joining me OR would like more info send me a DM. I’d love for you to join me. ✨💕✨⁣

I’m learning there is great beauty and love to be experienced in the slow quiet work of God. That God doesn’t need bigger, better for others to experience the love of God.⁣
⁣
People need to encounter people who have encountered the Living God.⁣
⁣
May my life draw others to Christ through his great love. Starting with my first “neighbor,” my family.⁣
⁣
Love you @richvillodas Karis & Nathan! 💕⁣

Hope. 🕯⁣ ⁣ “One of the essential paradoxe Hope. 🕯⁣
⁣
“One of the essential paradoxes of Advent: that while we wait for God, we are with God all along, that while we need to be reassured of God’s arrival, of the arrival of our Homecoming, we are already at home. While we wait, we have to trust, to have faith, but it is God’s grace that gives us that faith. As with all spiritual knowledge, two things are true, and equally true, at once. The mind can’t grasp paradox; it’s the knowledge of the soul.” -Michelle Blake, The Tentmaker⁣
